GPO wont open on workstation

Problem:  GPO won’t open on workstations.

SOLUTION:

Login to Workstation as domain admin

Type File Explorer Options  –> Set Windows to show hidden files and folders

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy folder

Select Machine folder

Rename Machine to Machine.old

It will prompt for admin permission. Click on the Continue button.

After the folder is renamed, open Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc in the Run prompt followed by pressing the Enter key.

Group Policy Editor will launch without a problem.
