Unable to setup Xerox MFD C405 for use as a scanner via USB using Driver CD/DVD

Problem Description: WIA/TWAIN Driver from XEROX CD that comes with the MFD was installed, scanner is detected in Device Manager, and driver installed, but refuse to scan from WIndows Fax/Scan or Adobe Acrobat Pro.

From Windows Fax/Scan, it is getting not responding error and program crashes and closed.

From Adobe Pro, it sees the scanner driver but refused to scan.

Resolution:

Download VersaLink C405 General Release Version 68.71.21 Firmware and VersaLink Firmware Install Utility v5.3.7.2 from Xerox site.

Updated firmware using SOP from the web site.

(NOTE: Read the SOP carefully on pre-requisite of minimum firmware version required before upgrading. If minimum version is not met, need to download the BRIDGE Version and update it first)

You will need a laptop and USB connection to MFD, using Firmware Install Utility software running from your laptop.

Download WHQL certified Driver Released: 04/18/2019 Version: 1.0.4.0 WHQL 20181207 and update the scanner driver to THIS VERSION ONLY.

(NOTE: DO NOT DOWNLOAD newer TWAIN/WIA driver from that web site. It will not work with USB connection. Only Version: 1.0.4.0 WHQL 20181207 dated 04/18/2019 works)
